KU Username

You can only log on KUnet with the new KU-Username.

Activate your KU Username

  • Go to www.KUnet.dk If you have selected English as language in your browser settings you vil reach the English login page
  • Click on the link "Forgot/...KU Username". (If you reach the Danish login page: Click on the link Glemt/kender ikke KU-Brugernavn"). This will open a new page. 
  • Enter your CPR number and pin.
  • Now you will see your KU-Username. It is important that you remember your KU-Username.
  • Enter a password
  • Enter your personal contact information (mobile phone and private email address – not your KU email address). If you forget your password, you can receive a new password by text and/or email.
  • Now you can log in to KUnet with your KU-Username.

The username you receive consists of three random consonants followed by a three-digit number, e.g. "bdg123". Your KU Username cannot be changed.

If you forget your KU Username or password

You can have your KU-Username and/or new password sent to you by using the links on the KUnet log-in page. If you haven’t entered a mobile phone number or your private email address when you activated your KU-Username, you will receive the password by mail at your home address.

FAQ for the KU Username

Why is the KU-Username constructed from three consonants and three numbers?

Many different solutions were discussed concerning the KU Username. The crucial point is that there are a number of legal and IT requirements that must be met. In addition, the name must be fairly easy to remember and not too difficult to write. The advantage of the chosen solution is that it can still be used even though a person changes name or status at the university.

Can I change my KU Username?

No, your KU Username is permanent and cannot be changed.

Will I no longer have to use my pin code?

Your pin code will still work with your student ID and will still be used in other situations.

Why is it necessary to get a KU Username?

The KU Username will increase login security concerning the University's IT systems. In addition, it will also make it easier for users because the KU Username will work with the majority of IT systems. 

Where can I use my KU Username?

The KU Username is your digital identity at the University of Copenhagen. You will have to use the username when authenticating yourself on university IT systems. At first, the username can be used with KUnet. You log in to your KU User Profile through the Intranet login page. 

How is my KU Username created?

Your KU Username is generated automatically without any connection to your name and without any relation to the University of Copenhagen.

Is my KU Username confidential?

Your KU Username is personal but not confidential. Your password, on the other hand, is confidential and must not be shared with anyone.

Can I use a foreign telephone number as part of my personal information when I activate my KU Username?

Yes you can, but you have to remember to type in the country code in front of the phone number (i.e. 46 2312345 or +46 2312345).
